Kitesurfing in Egypt

Kitesurfing in the Red Sea is becoming more and more popular. Why? Consistent wind, butterfat water and standing deep kite spots are waiting for you. The windy season in the northern part of the Red Sea is from May to October with consistent and reliable wind daily. While El Gouna, Soma Bay and the western coastline get good winds during this time as well, the Islands in the Gulf of Suez we visit on our kitesurfing cruise are more exposed to the prevailing northwesterly wind which gets funnelled through the narrow Channel. Water temperatures are warm allowing for sessions in board shorts and bikinis from June to September and shorty wetsuits in May and October with long suits for the evenings.

Kitespot Map

There are various Islands we can visit over the week with different kitesurfing spots. Our route is not fixed, but flexible depending on wind conditions and other kitecruise boats to give you the maximum amount of quality water-time possible.

Geisum offers a few different spots with all offshore kiting and standing deep water. We have the possibility to do a downwinder/crosswinder for more advanced kitesurfers here as well.

Tawila

Tawila is one of the most stunning kite spots in the Red Sea with a big flatwater lagoon and another lagoon upwind of the main kitesurfing spot.

Abu Mongar

Abu Mongar is another small Island with a very long sandbar offering flat water kitesurfing close to Hurghada.

Other Spots

We have a handful of other spots less visited by other kitesurfing safaris which all offer great offshore kitesurfing with superb flat water.

Kitesurf & Wind Season Egypt

Best Month to go to Egypt for a Kitecruise

The best time to go for an Egypt Kitecruise depends on your personal preference. The windy season is from May to October, with the strongest wind being in September (7-9m kites), but the rest of the season gets reliable wind as well (7-14m kites). September is also the most busiest month with most kite safari boats out on the water, while the other months tend to be a bit less frequently travelled.

Kitesurf Downwinders

Over the week we have a few circuits that independent riders can take on. Some of these are guided with a safety boat and some you can take on by yourself or with a group. We will offer the guided crosswinds depending on the groups level and interest. Rather than just a lazy down winder they are quite fun as you get to see around the islands and test your upwind & downwind ability
